Homemaker's Journal: Monday, December 30, 2019

Joining Sandra over at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom for Happy Homemaker Monday.

THE WEATHER THIS WEEK...

It is a warm but rainy day. Temperatures will get up to 75 this afternoon--very unusual for the last week of December. Tomorrow will be sunny with a high of 60 and temperatures will drop from there until Friday when a high of 76 is expected. I don't know what is going on with the weather!

AROUND THE HOME...

Usual disarray from the weekend, but worse because my foyer is full of Christmas garland that my husband took down from outside yesterday and the children and I took down the Christmas tree this morning and hauled it out to the road. My youngest son is spending the day with my parents so it's much more quiet around here.

AGENDA FOR TODAY...

Clean. There is a large empty spot in the living room and pine needles everywhere. The baby is asleep so the pine needles will have to wait. I also need to get a grocery list ready for the week. Laundry is already in progress.

PLANS FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK...

My oldest daughter is on her last week of vacation from dance so our week is pretty open. We are starting back to school lessons on Wednesday because we're still trying to catch up from the time we took off for baby. I have an appointment on Friday. We have a new year of gospel curriculum beginning this week, which is always exciting.

Moving Forward With a Happy Spirit

It was not until welcoming our fourth child that I realized how we have not had the time to just be for awhile. We took a break from our school lessons to get to know the new baby, but now that we've started back up again with only our core subjects, I wonder how I got it all done before baby arrived. There are meals to cook, a house to clean, school lessons to be done, and a new baby to care for.

It is easy to feel like I've failed when I don't get everything completed, but I know that I am doing what the Lord wants me to do. When I remind myself of this, I can slow down and feel more at peace. I can take the time to love my children, to nourish their spirits. In turn, my spirit is rejuvenated and I can continue forward, on even the most difficult of days.

“Those who move forward with a happy spirit will find that things always work out.”
